What type of laser system do you use?
The Diolaze system combines power, speed and cooling to provide a fast, effective and comfortable laser hair removal experience. We are so excited to offer this rapid hair removal device to West Georgia!
Can all types of hair be treated?
The lighter the hair the more difficult it is for the laser to treat since the pigment in the hair is what attracts the laser beam to destroy the hair growth. Fair skinned clients with darker hair are the easiest to treat. However, we would be happy to evaluate you in our office, which is located in Carrollton, GA, for a free consultation to let you know if you are a good candidate.
What do I need to avoid before laser hair removal?
Avoid extended sun exposure, self-tanning, or tanning beds one month before and after treatment. If taking accutane, you must wait a minimum of six months prior to getting any IPL treatment. If using topical retinol product, you must stop seven day prior to your IPL treatment.
What are typical results following laser hair removal?
Typically clients have about 80-90% reduction of hair growth in the treated areas. The remaining follicles are damaged and produce finer hair than before their treatment. Treatment results vary among individuals. We have some patients that never have to shave again and other patients that shave less often prior to their treatment.
Will laser hair removal help someone with polycystic ovarian syndrome or thyroid problems?
Often, people diagnosed with thyroid problems and PCOS have abnormal hair growth on the face, neck, and chest. Laser hair removal is useful in stopping and or reducing this abnormal hair growth.
What if I have had herpes in the area I want treated?
We suggest patients with a history of genital or oral herpes get treated with prophylactic Valtrex prior to your scheduled session. You can get the prescription from your primary care provider or you can schedule a consultation and we will be happy to prescribe the medication for you.
Is it ok to continue to pluck or wax after starting laser treatments?
You must avoid waxing and tweezing six weeks prior to your first treatment. You are allowed to shave prior to treatment.
